One of the most important Mitzvot, and one of the Mitzvot exclusively reserved for women, is Hefresh Challa, taking a small portion of the dough being prepared for the Shabbat bread loaves and then burning it so that it cannot be used at all. This is done to demonstrate that a portion of all our goods and possessions must be devoted to higher service. In former times it was donated to the Beit HaMikdash (Temple service). Now without a Temple, we symbolically discard it.
